About the Business
Owners Paul and Angie Kenchington had always wanted their own business and the cycle trade provided the ideal outlet using Paul's experience in retail which had included working in a bicycle shop.
The original shop was small, dirty and full of a poor selection of stock. Whilst the shop couldn't be made bigger all the other bits were improved especially the quality of service and trade flourished. The rest as they say is history but it did have a great deal to do with a radio advertising campaign.
The Taunton branch opened at the now defunct Bike Park where government funding was used to experiment with a secure area for parked bikes. Bridgwater was moved into it's current site with the test track and 7,000 sq ft floor area, so necessary to show all the fully assembled products. The Taunton branch moved to the current site which made it the biggest independant cycle shop in the town. A third site was opened in Weston Super Mare in 2004 and the fourth site is in the planning stage.
